With Spanish Sparrows nesting under the eaves, Swallows in the dining room, and Hoopoe and Wryneck in the garden, the Vasilias Nikoklis inn, was a wonderful place to stay. As well as brilliant shows by Cyprus Wheatear and Warbler, other delights from Cyprus included Night, Squacco and Purple Herons, Glossy Ibis, Ferruginous Duck, Griffon Vulture, Long-legged Buzzard, Eleonora's Falcon, Black Francolin, Chukar, Kentish and Spur-winged Plovers, Slender-billed and Armenian Gulls, Great Spotted Cuckoo, Alpine Swift, Roller, Red-rumped Swallow, Tawny Pipit, Isabelline and Black-eared Wheatears, Blue Rock Thrush, Spectacled Warbler, Collared Flycatcher, Masked and Woodchat Shrikes, Ortolan Bunting and a fabulous male Little Crake, which repeatedly showed well giving everyone stunning views of this normally invisible species. Happy memories eh?
