The
Farne Islands
Our
day trip to Staple Island and Inner Farne was a
magical experience as thousands of seabirds
filled the air with their sounds, smells,
flyovers and whitewash. The intimate cliff top
spectacle of Shags, Kittiwakes, Razorbills,
Puffins and rowdy Guillemots, bringing fish
longer than their tiny chicks, was amazing while
the 'in your face' Arctic Terns were a real
knockout. Back on the mainland our trip list
grew and grew, including super views of singing
Sedge and Grasshopper Warblers. Just when it
couldn't get any better, our last three
sightings included a Spoonbill, a Little Gull
and even a Glaucous Gull!
