Forest
of Bowland & Woolston Eyes
An
impressive tally of 90 species included ace
scope views of singing Ring Ouzel, and magical
eye contact with a passing Short-eared Owl in
the beautiful Forest of Bowland. An early
morning stroll beside the Lune gave a great
opportunity to compare the songs and plumages of
Common and Lesser Whitethroats at very close
range, as well as several Whimbrel and even a
posing Peregrine, while Woolston Eyes came up
trumps with plentiful views of lovely
Black-necked Grebes plus a curious leucistic
Black-headed Gull and a tantalising Grasshopper
Warbler seen by all.
