We cleared up on this fascinating island…………
Common
and Brünnich’s Guillemots, side by side, Harlequins at close range, a single
rufous Grey Phalarope picked out from numerous Red-necks, and superb close
views of a pair of White-tailed Eagles with two eaglets.
On Mývatn, the
thousands of wildfowl included Scaup, Long-tailed Duck, Barrow’s Goldeneye
and Slavonian Grebe. Inshore, marvellous views of Red-throated and Great
Northern Divers with Whimbrel, Black-tailed Godwit, Ptarmigan, Merlin, Short-eared
Owl and Gyr Falcon among the lava fields.
