~ Migration
Eighteen
different waders included plum views of Little
Stint and Curlew Sandpiper at Inner Marsh Farm
and a spectacular high tide show by thousands of
Knot, Dunlin and handsome Grey Plovers at
Marshside, where we also had the unusual
combination of both Hobby and Merlin. Among the
six other raptors seen were Marsh and Hen
Harriers and a Peregrine, which spooked
thousands of Greylags and a single Snow Goose
into a skyward explosion. Sea watching produced
Red-throated Diver, Manx Shearwater and
Guillemot, while other stars included a superb
posing Water Rail and some very cute little Red
Squirrels.
