Pendle
Hill & The Forest of Bowland
We
had a glorious sunny day for climbing Pendle
Hill and spotted Little Owl and Wheatear on the
way up, but the Dotterel at the top were flushed
away by a Sparrowhawk just an hour before we got
there! An afternoon stroll along Pendle Water
gave plum views of posing Dipper, Jay and Grey
Wagtail. Highlights from the Forest of Bowland
included Spotted Flycatcher, Common Sandpiper, a
pair of Red-breasted Mergansers, a singing Ring
Ouzel and synchronised circling by a Red Kite
being shown off the premises by a Short-eared
Owl.
How
often do you see that?
