Slimbridge & the Somerset Levels

The wild landscape of the levels came up with the goods including plum views of Little Egret, Marsh Harrier, Great Spotted Woodpecker and Siskin, while Water Rail and Cetti's Warblers teased us from dense cover. At dusk, clouds of Starlings roosting in their tens of thousands, gave an unbelievable show, swarming like locusts in wave after wave across the sky, while several dashing Sparrowhawks added to the action. At Slimbridge we enjoyed thousands of swirling Dunlin, Lapwings and Golden Plover plus White-fronted Geese, Bewick's Swans, Wigeon, Pintail and a posing Peregrine.
